IMMIGRATION TO CANADA THROUGH SELF EMPLOYMENT

The Self-Employment program is for those individuals who are efficient in creating their own employment, by contributing to all aspects of working business to Canada’s employment and business market.

Individuals/Applicants having adequate capital and associated work experience can apply for all Self-Employment Program Canada. The Self-employed Persons Program allows people to immigrate to Canada permanently as a self-employed person.

If you’re interested in this program, you must:

  • have relevant experience in cultural activities or athletics and
  • be willing and able to make a significant contribution to the cultural or athletic life of Canada

As a self-employed person, you must have relevant experience in cultural activities, athletics, or farm management.

You must also have the intention and ability to establish a business that will, at a minimum, create employment for yourself. You must make a significant contribution to cultural activities or athletics.

Your experience is relevant if you have:

  • taken part in cultural activities or athletics at a world-class level or
  • been a self-employed person in cultural activities or athletics

Relevant experience for a self-employed person means at least two years of experience.

for cultural activities:

.    2 one-year periods being self-employed in cultural activities, or
a. 2 one-year periods participating at a world-class level in cultural activities, or
b. a combination of a one-year period described in (a), and a one-year period described in (b)

  • for athletics:

. 2 one-year periods being self-employed in athletics, or
a. 2 one-year periods participating at a world class level in athletics, or
b. a combination of a one-year period described in (a) above, and a one-year period described in (b) above

No immigration conditions are imposed on this class. You must have enough money to support yourself and your family members after you arrive in Canada.

Requirements

Self-employed person means a foreign national who has relevant experience and has the intention and ability to be self-employed in Canada and to make a significant contribution to specified economic activities in Canada.

Relevant experience in respect of a self-employed person, means at least two years in the period beginning five years before the date of application for a permanent resident visa and ending on the day a determination is made in respect of the application, in one of the following types of experience:

Self-employment in cultural activities or in athletics, or
participation at a world-class level in cultural activities or athletics.
Specified economic activities in respect of a self-employed person, means cultural activities or athletic.
