IMMIGRATION TO CANADA THROUGH INVESTOR PROGRAM 

As an investor, you must make a prescribed investment of CDN $800,000. This investment is placed with the Receiver General of Canada.

Participating provinces then use your investment to create jobs and help their economies grow. Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) will return your investment to you, without interest, in approximately five years after you become a permanent resident.

An  Investor is a foreign national who:

– has business experience;
– has a legally obtained net worth of at least CDN $1,600,000; and
– indicates in writing to an officer that they intend to make or have made an investment.

 Qualifying business experience should be at least two years in the period beginning five years before the date of application for a permanent resident visa and ending on the day a determination is made in respect of the application, or the management of at least five full-time job per year in a business for at least two years in the period beginning five years before the date of application. Full-time job equivalent means 1,950 hours of paid employment.

 While The federal Immigrant Investor Program is closed, there  are different Business Immigration programs currently available by each province:

 

Quebec Investor Program

Quebec Investor Program is for individuals who to immigrate to Quebec and invest  the sum of $1,200,000 CAD with  the Quebec government, which the Quebec government will invest for its own benefit, then refund to the investor immigrant after a period of five years, interest free.

To be eligible for the Investor Program, you must:

  • have, alone or with your accompanying spouse or de facto spouse, legally acquired net assets of at least C$2,000,000, excluding any amounts received by donation less than six months before your application is submitted
  • have management experience for at least two years in the five years preceding the application for selection. This experience must include duties related to the planning, management, and control of financial, human or material resources under your authority. This does not include experience acquired in an apprenticeship, training or specialization leading to a diploma
  • intend to settle in Québec
  • sign an investment agreement with a financial intermediary (broker or trust company) authorized to participate in the Investor Program
  • make a five-year term investment of C$1,200,000 with Investissement Québec – Immigrants Investisseurs Inc.
  • obtain, by the prescribed deadline, an attestation of learning about democratic values and the Québec values. The members of your family accompanying you (your spouse and your dependent children of 18 years of age or older) must also obtain the attestation.
